If you use iCloud Drive to store your files, you can access them from any device that has iCloud Drive turned on. You can also download files from iCloud Drive to your Mac, so you can work on them offline or back them up. Here's how to do it.
Open the Finder on your Mac and click iCloud Drive in the sidebar.
Find the file or folder that you want to download and control-click it.
Select Download Now from the menu that appears. The file or folder will start downloading to your Mac.
